UX Content Designer
One of Esteemed's agency clients is seeking a Content Strategist for a high-visibility, fed gov contract role.
Candidates must have or be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance, and be US Citizens.
We are seeking a UX Content Designer with expertise in content management system design, content structure, content modeling, content inventorying/auditing, information architecture, taxonomy, and content management system user training.
In this role, the UX Content Designer brings a deep knowledge of UX and content principles, practices, and user research, and can collaborate effectively with stakeholders, designers, product managers, project managers, and software engineers to deliver work on an enterprise website. You will be empowered to make informed recommendations to improve an important federal site's frontend and backend user experience.
You will succeed in this role if you like to flex your skills across content and user experience design, collaborating with and presenting work to colleagues and stakeholders, and designing in an agile and iterative environment.
This position is fully remote (work from home) and requires successfully passing a federal background investigation.
Responsibilities
- Inventory, analyze, and audit existing content, content types, and information architecture
- Analyze and conduct discovery and research for landing pages, global navigation, taxonomies, and features
- Create strategic recommendations for improvements and iterations
- Restructure and remap site information architecture
- Analyze and implement improvements to site and content governance, such as roles and permissions, editorial workflows, content types, and templates, as needed
- Create training documentation and train content management system users
- Collaborate with product management, engineering, other designers, and federal subject matter experts
- Plan, facilitate, synthesize, analyze, and report out user research as needed
- Communicate effectively across organizational and technical boundaries, understanding the context
- Communicate UX decisions and what business or user needs they are solving verbally or visually
- Advocate for human-centered design best practices in an agile and iterative environment
Required skills and experience
- Experience conducting content audits, information architecture analysis, etc., and providing and implementing strategic recommendations, identifying gaps, creating new mappings
- Experience conducting discovery and writing requirements to inform visual designers, frontend and backend developers
- Direct experience working with and/or designing content management systems
- Enthusiasm for working closely with other designers and collaborating with other members of the product team
- Experience working in client services and demonstrated success in building strong client relationships
- Fluency in a broad range of human-centered design and content design methods
- Communicate and present design decisions and the problems they address
- Confidence in leading research and discovery activities (interviews, observation, analysis, workshops, synthesis, etc.) as needed
Preferred skills and experience
- Working in or with federal government
- Experience with SEO and analytics
- Comfort commenting and annotating in Figma
- Experience working with large content repositories
- Content management system user documentation and training facilitation
- Familiar with or able to quickly learn a variety of software or tools
- Familiarity with Drupal
Minimum qualifications that you bring
- At least five (5) years of experience working as UX designer and/or content designer in collaboration with digital product teams
- Experience with WCAG/Section 508 Accessibility standards
- A portfolio illustrating your process, design deliverables, and outcomes
