About the job
Job Functions:
- Responsible for the delivery of projects, either as a project lead, or solution architect as appropriate.
- Responsible for advising on development processes or technology solutions (working with Project Managers to provide GIS guidance on projects, scoping, and proposals).
- Advise on best practices for deploying solutions and systems design, including integration to various systems to meet business needs.
- Design, create, and test innovative solutions to accommodate unique customer needs and define integration patterns for third-party systems.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to other technical staff on design, implementation, and optimization of different solutions spanning applications, data, and systems.
- Assist with data management, GIS Project management, web map development, and field collection app development within ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Portal environments.
- Create automation processes and tools in FME in support of GIS and EAM/OMS projects/efforts.
- Work in collaboration with stakeholders to support projects and ensure project methods, approaches, and control standards are met.
- Compile and update system support documentation.
- Assist with administration of licensing and access to On-premise and SaaS GIS-centric platforms, including installation when required.
- Assist with troubleshooting for ArcGIS software (including ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise), EAM/OMS softwares (including Cartegraph, Cityworks, and Community Development/TRAKiT), and AutoCAD/Civil3D.
- Identifies, inquires, researches, and uses independent judgment regarding problems that are difficult to identify or where facts may be insufficient and misleading.
- Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance.
Job Requirements
This project requires current or prior Department of Commerce suitability or Census Bureau clearance.
- Minimum Qualifications/Acceptable Equivalencies:
- Bachelor's degree in geography, geology, earth science, or computer science with five years of experience in a progressively responsible geographic information systems or computer science environment
- OR
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.
Core Competencies:
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers, internal customers, and vendors.
- Ability to understand the big picture of technical architectures and infrastructure.
- Detailed understanding of spatial principles, Esri suite of products and formats, GPS collection efforts, ETL processes, workflow dependencies, and solution design and implementation.
- Ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Preferences:
- Experience with municipal government(s).
- Experience with SQL Server Management Studio and Microsoft Active Directory.
- Experience with any or all of the following applications: Community Development/TRAKiT (permitting, code compliance, inspections, etc.), Cityworks/Cartegraph (Enterprise Asset Management), and FME (ETL platform).
- Proficiency in any or all the following programming languages: SQL, HTML, Javascript, and Python.
- Experience serving in technical leadership roles and is familiar with Federal IT proposals with prior experience collaborating with business development teams as a technical solution architect SME.
- Should have an AWS certification or be ready to obtain a certification within 60 days from the date of joining.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog and Prometheus
- Experience with Helm Charts deployments and Understanding of RBAC for k8s clusters.
